Originally built in 1968 in Baia Domizia by a Scandinavian cooperative, Italy Village was envisioned as an exclusive retreat - fondly know as "the Swedes' Paradise". Nestled along a pristine stretch of coastline where Mediterranean scrub, golden sand dunes, and lush pine forest flourish, this hidden gem has been a haven for nature lovers and seaside dreamers alike.
In 2014, visionary entrepreneur Luigi Mennillo breathed new life into the village, investing in a thoughtful transformation that seamlessly blends modern comforts with the untouched beauty of the surrounding landscape. Here, nature, hospitality and relaxation come together to create an unforgettable holiday experience - where every moment is designed to inspire and rejuvenate.
In the 1960s, the Municipality of Sessa Aurunca embarked on an ambitious project to enhance and develop its stunning coastal landscape - an unspoiled stretch of towering pine and holm oak forests gently cascating into golden dunes and the crystal-clear sea. Under the expert guidance of Paduan town planner Lorenzo Menegazzo, the vision was clear: to create a harmonious retreat where nature remained the true protagonist.
Buildings would blend seamlessly into the environment, hidden from the shoreline, with pedestrian avenues weaving through the pine forest to provide serene access to the beach.
It was in this enchanting setting that La Serra was born in 1968, a Swedish-owned tourist complex designed as an exclusive haven for Scandinavian visitors. Affectionately dubbed "the Swedish Village", it quickly became a sought-after escape, even earning a feature in a1975 Istituto Luce newsreel, which describe it as "a little slice of Sweden in Italy". Today, this timeless retreat has evolved into Italy Village, a place where history, nature, and hospitality come together to create unforgettable seaside experiences.
